Every field of duty requires different police gear, but there are standard pieces of equipment that each officer must carry. For example, there’s always the risk of having to restrain someone, which makes handcuffs mandatory for all on-duty officers.

Although the list of police gear is endless, here are some of the most common items:

Police gear is made to protect the officer. Many people think that officers are “out to get them” or on the offensive, but they are only looking out for their own safety. A handcuffed assailant has less of a chance to inflict bodily harm, especially during a heated altercation.
